The current Swine Flu (H1N1) strain is a mélange of genetic RNA sequences from three separate hosts: piggy, bird and human. By a process called “reassortment” (sounds a lot like “mutation” to us, but accuracy is our life!) a new strain is formed which may be highly virulent and transmissible. While the full implications of the threat are not yet determined, vaccines are in development for immunization of specific demographics. It’s important that the public educate itself about this flu and its potential in order to make reasonable determinations for themselves and their families.
This dazzling design features individual RNA strands from each host; the resulting H1N1 combo-strain composed of all three; and individual H1N1 viruses “accessorizing” the pandemic pattern.
The name of the design is discreetly displayed on the border of the scarf (inconspicuous when worn.)
